World Health Organisation

The World Health Organisation (WHO) is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, including unintended injury prevention. The following reports are of particular interest in this area.

Also available is the TEACH-VIP E-Learning tool, which is a comprehensive injury and violence prevention curriculum developed for self-paced, self-administered training online. It contains useful information for practitioners and policy makers.

Injury Observatory for Britain and Ireland

The Injury Observatory for Britain and Ireland (IOBI) has been established by members of the Association of Public Health Observatories in collaboration with a number of key academic institutions. The purpose of the thematic injury observatory is to support injury prevention practitioners working on the prevention of injuries caused by accidents, violence or self harm.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)

RoSPA logoRoSPA is a registered charity which provides information, advice, resources and training, to promote safety and the prevention of accidents in all areas of life - at work, in the home, on the roads, in schools, at leisure, and on (or near) water. This website contains a variety of information and resources, including advice, educational materials and the Safe at Home safety equipment scheme.

Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT)

CAPT logoThe Child Accident Prevention Trust is the UK’s leading charity working to reduce the number of children and young people killed, disabled or seriously injured in accidents. They have a wide variety of information and resources available through their website, including information about how to get involved with ‘Child Safety Week’ which runs every year. CAPT is also running ‘Making the Link’ – a project aimed at building capacity for effective partnership working on child accident prevention, which is open to anyone working to reduce injury and death to children and young people in England.

European Child Safety Alliance

The European Child Safety Alliance website contains a range of information about child safety across Europe, including the National Child Safety Report Cards.
