Highways Agency
The Highways Agency are responsible for managing, maintaining and improving England's motorways and trunk roads, working to keep traffic moving and ensure safety. Their Driver Information Programmes (DIPs) are, primarily, targeted at the four driver groups who are, statistically, most at risk on our motorways and major A roads, and their website gives access to a range of educational resources available.

Sustrans - Safe Routes to School
Sustrans run the Safe Routes to Schools, or School Travel, initiative and this site contains information, resources, sample travel plans, curriculum guides and more. Of particular interest may be the Staying Safe on the School Journey information sheet. They also run a free national schools information service, aimed at supporting schools, parents, pupils, local authorities and all those interested in school travel initiatives. Brake
Brake is a road safety charity with two aims - preventing road crashes through education and campaigns, and supporting people bereaved or seriously injured in road crashes. Brake founded and runs Road Safety Week as an annual event every November to stimulate community involvement in promoting road safety awareness year-round.
In the Can
23 road safety teams and partnerships are taking part in a campaign to encourage young people to play their part in reducing road casualties. ‘In the can’ challenges young people to make a road safety film suitable for use on the Internet. The competition is open to anyone under the age of 21 years, working on their own or in teams, or on behalf of their school, college or university. Entries already made and examples of existing viral films can be viewed via the site.
Trackoff
Trackoff is Britain’s rail industry initiative to help educate children and teenagers about safe conduct on the railway. There are a variety of teaching resoruces available through this website and you can also enquire about a school visit.
Serco
This site contains free educational resources about railway crime and safety including lesson plans, factsheets, posters, videos and classroom activities as well as media files that can be downloaded for use with interactive whiteboards.
Kerbcraft
Kerbcraft is a practical child pedestrian training scheme designed to teach pedestrian skills to 5 to 7 year olds, by means of practical road-side training rather than teaching in the classroom. Children are taught in the road environment near their schools, in pairs or groups of three children, by trained volunteers.
Bikeability
Bikeability is the Cycling Proficiency Test for the 21st century, designed to give the next generation the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today's roads.
The Children's Traffic Club
The Children's Traffic Club is a successful, award winning road safety programme for 3 and 4 year olds. It helps parents and carers teach children how to keep safe when out and about, in a fun and memorable way. The website gives you information about The Club, the background, how it works, how to register your child, lots of hints and tips and fun activities.
'Embrace Life' video
The 'Embrace Life' video, encouraging seatbelt wearing and produced for the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership, has smashed through 1 million views on YouTube and has been broadcast on TV stations around the world.
